Privacy Policy — Tahwil

Tahwil (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a personal Islamic worship and learning companion published by Trackana. This policy explains what data the app uses and how. In short: Tahwil is a local-first app. We do not require an account, we do not run analytics or ads, and we do not sell or share your personal data. Your worship logs, learning progress, and settings stay on your device.

Information we collect

We do not collect or store any personal information on our servers. The app has no user accounts and no cloud sync. The following data is used only on your device, except where noted:

• Location. With your permission, the app uses your device’s location to calculate accurate prayer times and the Qibla direction for your area. This is processed on your device and is not stored by us or transmitted to us.
• Worship & learning data. Your prayer logs, fasting/zakat entries, Arabic-lesson progress, and app settings are stored locally on your device only (in the app’s private on-device database). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

Information shared with third parties

The app connects to the internet only for the following feature, and only when you use it:

• Nearby mosques. When you use the “nearby mosques” feature, your approximate location is sent to the OpenStreetMap Overpass API (overpass-api.de / overpass.kumi.systems) to look up mosques near you. Your location is rounded to roughly 100 metres before it is sent — we never send your precise position — and is used only to answer that request, subject to OpenStreetMap’s privacy practices (https://wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy). We do not attach any identifier to this request, and we do not store the result.

We do not use any advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs.

Notifications

The app can show local notifications and reminders (for example, prayer-time and worship reminders) that are scheduled entirely on your device. No push-notification service is used, and no data is sent off the device to deliver them.

Permissions the app requests

• Location — to compute prayer times, Qibla, and (optionally) find nearby mosques.
• Notifications & alarms/reminders (including exact alarms) — to deliver prayer-time and worship reminders at the correct times, and to reschedule them after a device restart.
• Vibration / wake — so reminders can alert you.

You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings; the app works without location (you can enter your city/coordinates manually) and without notifications.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data is stored only on your device, you are in full control of it. To delete all app data, clear the app’s storage in your device settings or uninstall the app.

Children’s privacy

Tahwil is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
